The MWSU Fieldhouse at Looney Complex is home to the Griffon volleyball and basketball programs. Built in 1981, the MWSU Fieldhouse has a current seating capacity of 3,270 fans for basketball and 850 fans for volleyball.
Griffon teams enjoy their own locker facilities; complete with large screen televisions, ample locker space and team gathering areas.
A state-of-the-art new wood basketball court was installed in the summer of 2007 at a cost of $375,000 with the Griffon volleyball team playing the first game on the new surface on August 28, 2007 against Nebraska-Kearney.
Along with the main game floor, Western students and student-athletes enjoy the following amenities within the Looney Complex: swimming pool, raquetball courts, six full basketball courts and 16 shooting stations to improve your game.
The MWSU Fieldhouse attendance record was recorded on February 10, 2001 when 3,826 fans watched Griffon basketball take on Northwest Missouri State.
Prior to calling the MWSU Fieldhouse home, both Griffon basketball and volleyball played their home games in the old gym of the M.O. Looney Fieldhouse.
The fieldhouse has hosted numerous campus and regional events throughout the years including: MWSU Commencement, Convocation on Critical Issues, campus talent show, Missouri State High School Activities Association Sectional and Quarterfinal Basketball games, five NCAA South Central Regional Basketball Tournaments and several concerts including CMA recording artist Josh Turner.
